Cristina Babino è nata ad Ancona nel 1976. Vive tra la Costa Azzurra e le Marche. E’ laureata in Letteratura Italiana presso la sezione Arte del DAMS di Bologna con una tesi dal titolo Montale critico d’arte (acquisita dal Centro Internazionale di Studio “E. Montale” di Roma). Ha pubblicato i volumi di poesia L’abitudine del cielo (Blu di Prussia, 2003), La donna d’oro (peQuod, 2008), la monografia critica La Ferita. Opere di Walter Angelici 1994- 2009 (La Via Lattea, Ancona, 2010), e suoi testi poetici sono inclusi in varie antologie, tra cui Registro di Poesia # 4 (a cura di G. Alfano, D’If, Napoli, 2011), Nodo Sottile 5 (a cura di V. Biagini e A. Sirotti, Le Lettere, 2008) L’opera continua (a cura di G. Vincenzi, Giulio Perrone Editore, 2005). La sua opera poetica è stata presentata in prestigiosi contesti internazionali in Gran Bretagna, Portogallo, Francia, Belgio e Stati Uniti. Suoi scritti critici e traduzioni sono apparsi sulle riviste letterarie Poesia (Crocetti), Le voci della luna, Stilos, Incroci, ed è stata redattrice del mensile di cultura BuonGusto. Suoi testi poetici sono apparsi in traduzione inglese su riviste di poesia contemporanea britanniche, tra cui Aesthetica e Coffee House Poetry, nell’antologia VI Encontro Internacional de Poetas (Facoltà di Studi Anglo-Americani, Università di Coimbra Portogallo, 2007), in traduzione portoghese nelle prestigiose riviste Oficina de Poesia n.11 e Foro das Letras 17/18, e nell’antologia Poetry of the World / 6 (Poesia do mundo /6, a cura di Irene Ramahlo de Sousa Santos, università di Coimbra, 2010). Suoi scritti sono apparsi su Nostro Lunedì (semestrale di scritture a cura di Francesco Scarabicchi) e su altre importanti riviste letterarie cartacee e on line. E’ vincitrice di numerosi premi letterari, tra cui il Premio Rabelais (edizioni nazionali 2004 e 2005) e il Premio Nazionale Nodo Sottile 5 (2007). Nel maggio 2007 ha rappresentato l’Italia come poeta invitato al VI Meeting Internazionale di Poesia Poetas, organizzato dal Dipartimento di Studi Anglo-Americani dell’Università di Coimbra, Portogallo, ateneo presso la quale è stata ospitata, nel 2008, in qualità di European Poet in Residence. Nel 2010 le è stato conferito il Premio Cavalierato Giovanile per la Cultura .

She published the poetry collection ”L’abitudine del cielo” (“The habit of the sky”), Blu di Prussia Publisher, 2003) and the book-lenght poem “La donna d’oro” (“The golden woman”), peQuod, 2008. Her work featured in many poetry anthologies: among them, Registro di Poesia # 4 (edited by G. Alfano, D’If, Napoli, 2011), Nodo Sottile 5 (edited by V. Biagini e A. Sirotti, Le Lettere, 2008) L’opera continua (edited by G. Vincenzi, Giulio Perrone Editore, 2005) and appeared on relevant literary reviews such as “Nostro Lunedì” and relevant on-line poetry magazines. She also published the critical essay on visual arts “La ferita. Opere di Walter Angelici 1994 – 2009″ (La Via Lattea, Ancona, 2010).
She graduated in 2001 at University of Bologna (Department of Visual Arts, Music and Performing Arts) with a thesis in Italian Literature on “The Poet Eugenio Montale as an art critic”. The thesis was acquired by the International Centre of Studies “Eugenio Montale” in Rome (Italy). Her poetry work was acclaimed in prestigious international contests in Great Britain, Portugal, France, Belgium and United States.
She worked as an editor for the monthly magazine “BuonGusto” and contributes with short essays and translations to a number of poetry and literary journals: among them, “Poesia”, “Le voci della luna”, “Stilos”, “Incroci”. Her poetry appeared in translation on prestigious British poetry reviews such as “Aesthetica” and “Coffee House Poetry”, featured in the 6th International Meeting of Poets Anthology (Coimbra, 2007), in “Oficina de Poesia n.11″ (University of Coimbra, 2009), and in the anthology “Poetry of the World / 6″ (edited by Irene Ramahlo de Sousa Santos).
She was granted a number of national literary awards – among them, the “Nodo Sottile 5″ (2007) and “Francois Rabelais” National Poetry Awards , in both editions 2004 and 2005. In May 2007 she represented Italy as an invited poet to the 6th International Meeting of Poets held by the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra (Portugal) – Department of Anglo-American Studies. She was awarded the first European Grant for the “Poets in Residence Programme 2008″ organized by the University of Coimbra, where she held the seminar “Music & Lyrics. Notes on Italian songwriters”. She held poetry seminars in high schools and she was part of the Organizing Comittee of the yearly “Licenze Poetiche” International Poetry Festival (2008 edition, Macerata, Italy). In 2010 she was granted the “Cavalierato Giovanile” Award for Culture.
